AES Power Plant

Poseidon proposed their 50 MGD ocean desal plant in Huntington Beach to
co-locate with the AES power plant.  The Huntington Beach City Council
voted 4-3 to adapt their Conditional Use Permit (CUP) on February 27th,
2006.

On September 6, 2005 the City Council voted 4-3 to certify the project EIR.
This meeting had over 120 people signed up to speak during public
comment.  During this 10 hour meeting that began at 6pm and ended
around 4am, 78 people spoke either for or against the EIR and the overall
project.  In the end, it was clear that the majority of us felt that the EIR did
not answer all the questions that it should and was therefore, incomplete.
However, it was certified anyway.
