At this time, desal proposals in Moss Landing and Santa Cruz are the most important to
keep an eye on:

The two proposals in Moss Landing are located at or near the Duke Energy power plant,
(which has recently been put up for sale), one by California American (Cal Am) and one
by Pajaro-Sunny Mesa and Poseidon Resources.  This sale will have some effect on the
proposals but at this time it is unknown what will happen with this sale.  Both proposals
are looking at putting in pilot plants and the Surfrider Foundation has appealed the
Poseidon pilot plant to the Coastal Commission.  The hearing for the Cal Am pilot plant
is on July 13th  at 10am in Salinas at the Monterey County Planning and Building
Inspection Department.

The city of Santa Cruz proposal is currently waiting for response to comments on the EIR.
Below is a list of desal plants, existing and proposed, and associated companies.
